Police have launched an investigation into the alleged tampering of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) voter register for Kasese Municipality.
Regional Police Liaison Officer SP Luke Mbusa confirmed that seven suspects were arrested at Mbara Inn near Kasese Cobalt Company with an unauthorized voters’ register linked to the ruling party. The suspects remain in custody pending advice from the Resident State Attorney.
Kasese District FDC Chairperson Ronald Kabuku condemned the incident, calling it an embarrassment to the ruling party and urging NRM leadership to take action.
However, Kasese District NRM Administrator Robert Mitse distanced the party from the allegations, stating that the suspects—Penina Masika, Josephine Mukwenda, Byuki Mbusa, Alice Mbambu, and Allen Kyomuhangi—must individually account for their actions.
