Kagadi Bar Owners Warned Against Employing Underage Girls

Kagadi Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Lillian Ruteraho has issued a stern warning to bar and lodge owners against employing underage girls, citing concerns over child labor and sexual exploitation.

Speaking to Spice FM from her office in Kagadi Town Council, Ruteraho condemned the growing trend of businesses exploiting young girls, particularly in the hospitality sector. She announced plans for a security operation to crack down on bars and lodges violating child labor laws, vowing to hold offenders accountable.

With Kagadi town experiencing rapid urbanization and an increase in commercial activities, Ruteraho noted that some business owners are taking advantage of vulnerable girls seeking employment. She urged young girls to be cautious and avoid being lured into exploitative work.

In addition to addressing child labor, the RDC called on parents to prioritize education for their children, stressing that schooling is essential in breaking cycles of poverty and ignorance. She warned that parents who fail to send their children back to school will face legal consequences.

Authorities are expected to intensify inspections across Kagadi and its urban centers to ensure compliance with child protection laws.
