Tribute to Former MPs: President Museveni Grants Official Burials

In a gesture of respect and gratitude, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has granted official burials to two former Members of Parliament, Margaret Baba Diri and Ignatius Besisira. This honor is bestowed upon them in recognition of their contributions to the country.Margaret Baba Diri, the former MP for Koboko, and Ignatius Besisira, the former MP for Buyaga, will be laid to rest with full state honors. Minister Milly Babalanda has confirmed that the families of the deceased will meet with the organizing committee to finalize the arrangements for the ceremonies. 

Vice President Jesca Alupo will preside over the events, adding to the solemnity and dignity of the occasion.Ignatius Besisira’s passing was reported on January 12, 2025, at the age of 69 ¹. He had survived a car crash in 2014 and had served in the 9th parliament, representing the Buyaga constituency. His death comes shortly after the passing of another former MP, Margaret Baba Diri, and serving MP Muhammad Ssegirinya.The official burials will serve as a fitting tribute to the lives and services of these dedicated public servants. Their contributions to the country’s development and growth will be remembered and honored through these ceremonies.
