Tragic Crash on Kampala-Bombo Road Claims Five Lives, Injures 21

 


Five people tragically lost their lives, and 21 others were injured in a devastating multi-vehicle crash that occurred along the Kampala-Bombo Road last night. The incident, which took place at Mayanja Valley, involved nine vehicles and a motorcycle, according to authorities.

Police spokesperson, Michael Kananura, explained that the collision was triggered by a Fuso Super Grande truck (UBK 769A) traveling from Kampala to Bombo. The truck lost control while descending the valley, crashing into multiple vehicles, including a motorcycle.

Sadly, five individuals, including the motorcycle rider, were killed on the spot, while the 21 injured passengers from different Toyota Hiace taxis were quickly transported to Mulago Hospital for medical care. The bodies of the deceased were taken to Mulago City Mortuary for post-mortem analysis.

The damaged vehicles were towed to Kawempe Police Station, where investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing. Authorities have urged drivers to adhere to road safety measures, such as regular vehicle maintenance, respecting speed limits, and driving defensively, in a bid to prevent similar accidents in the future.
