Man Arrested for Illegally Setting Up Fake Police Station in Uasin Gishu

In Uasin Gishu County, police have launched an investigation after a man was found to have constructed a fake police patrol base in Cherus Centre, Kesses Sub-County, without permission from the National Police Service (NPS).

The suspect, identified as Collins Leitich, also known as Chepkulei, is a resident of Asis Village in Ndugulu Location. He allegedly set up the unauthorized patrol base by using a private building and painting it in the official colors of the police force to make it appear as an official post.

The fake police base was discovered by local authorities, who swiftly took action. Officers from the Kamuyu Police Post, part of Kondoo Police Station, were informed and registered the incident under OB04/08/03/2025.

Many local residents had initially believed the base was a legitimate security measure. "We were all shocked to learn that it wasn’t an official police station," one resident commented.

As investigations continue, authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the creation of the illegal patrol base. Police have assured the community that they will take appropriate legal action against the suspect.
