The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) and Chief Political Commissar, Ubaldo Bamunoba, has called on police officers to remain professional and committed to fostering a law-abiding society.
During his visit to Hoima on Wednesday, AIGP Bamunoba emphasized the importance of strong police-community relations in maintaining law and order. He highlighted that collaboration with the public helps in addressing security challenges effectively and contributes to a crime-free environment.
As Uganda prepares for the 2026 general elections, Bamunoba stressed the police’s role in ensuring a fair and neutral political environment. He urged officers to uphold the principles outlined in the Constitution and the Police Act, including protecting lives and property, preventing crime, and maintaining public safety.
Recognizing Hoima and the wider Albertine region as strategic due to its oil and gas resources, he underscored the need for heightened vigilance against criminal activities.
Speaking at Hoima Resort Hotel during his regional tour, the AIGP announced the deployment of 18 additional police officers and motorcycles to strengthen security operations in Hoima. The tour focused on assessing ethical policing standards, ideological mindset change, and reinforcing police-public cooperation.
Albertine Territorial Police spokesperson, SP Julius Allan Hakiza, noted that efforts will be concentrated in Kitoba and Kigorobya town councils, as well as Kyabigambire and Kigorobya sub-counties, to enhance service delivery and security preparedness ahead of the elections.
